This past weekend we had the opportunity to visit Austin, Texas for a special gathering/conference of World Class Tae Kwon Do Alumni. Over 3 days, Master Instructors and World Class Dojang owners from across the country came together to present, share and reflect on World Class Tae Kwon Do.
I think about the PAST and history of World Class Tae Kwon Do and feel so fortunate to grow up and develop my skills, mindsets and passion under the one-of-a-kind visionary leadership of our World Class Tae Kwon Do founder, Grandmaster Sun Ki Chong. To be able to share a weekend with him, other World Class mentors and my fellow Tae Kwon Do brothers and sisters was humbling. It was so much fun hearing Grandmaster Chong speak about how the connection of the instructor and the importance of foundational teaching is the most important aspect to a successful Tae Kwon Do school. He's been involved in the Tae Kwon Do world for for more than 60 years, and he still speaks with such passion and fire. His love for seeing Tae Kwon Do as the vehicle for self-betterment is simply inspiring.
Having the opportunity to leave our school in the PRESENT day, and know that it is in good hands with our World Class Team of instructors is also a reminder of how fortunate we are to have youthful energetic instructors being role models for hundred of students, right here in Birmingham, AL. To see most of my team grow up (literally) over the last decade and half from the time they were 4, 5, and 6 years old, and develop into the role models we see on the mat today, is awesome. It's truly fulfilling as a leader developing leaders. Thank you to my team for being amazing!
Once you reflect on the past about the solid foundation we've come from, and are grateful for the present opportunities we face today, it's easy to see how the FUTURE is so bright for World Class Tae Kwon Do, not just in Birmingham, but across the country. To be surrounded by my peers that are passionate about building communities for families and children to progress toward their potential abilities is contagious - Contagious is the best way (not the Covid way!). I want you to know how committed we are to you, our students, to continue striving for excellence on all fronts! We are always striving for higher level teaching along with innovations to provide a greater World Class experience, like our new app and special events coming in the future!
